Geocache Description:

A series that will not only introduce you to some of the dog parks around the mornington peninsula but we will also be sharing some fun facts and information about a different breed of dog for every cache in the series! Although they are numbered they don't have to be done in order. We have also got our resident expert, Ebony (Gnome5580s geodog!) Who will be giving each dog park a score of 1 to 5 paws depending on how much she approves of this park! 🐶 we hope you enjoy this series as much as Ebony had testing each of these parks out 😉 and on that note here is her opinion of this park:

HILLVIEW COMMUNITY RESERVE

A large reserve across the road from the Boundary Rd shops in Dromana this off leash dog park has plenty of room for your dog to have a good run around with plenty of seats and some picnic tables as well as a sheltered eating area. There is a little duck pond, drinking water, toilets and plenty of parking but unfortunately this is an unfenced dog park and while this was originally primarily a dog park within the last few years it has become increasingly popular as an area used by mountain bike riders on the trails at the top end of the reserve that go up around the O.T dam. So because it is often VERY busy here with bike riders and the lack of fencing Ebony rates this park 3 out of 5.

Our dog breed this time is another popular breed in cooler parts of Australia.

SIBERIAN HUSKY

The Siberian Husky is a medium-sized working dog breed. The breed belongs to the Spitz genetic family. It is recognizable by its thickly furred double coat, erect triangular ears, and distinctive markings, and is smaller than a very similar-looking dog, the Alaskan Malamute.

Life expectancy: 12 – 15 years

Origin: Siberia

Colors: White, Black, Black & Tan, Black & White, Sable & White, Grey, Gray & White, Silver-gray, Red & White

Temperament: Friendly, Intelligent, Outgoing, Alert, Gentle

Weight: Female: 16–23 kg, Male: 20–27 kg

Height: Female: 50–56 cm, Male: 54–60 cm

Huskys are well known for being a very talkative breed and many owners say that their husky often "talks back" to them! They're definitely not too shy to tell you exactly what they think of any situation, its a very endearing quality and is a main reason why people love huskys so much but be warned! This breed is incredibly stubborn and difficult to train, they're renowned escape artists and have been known to jump high fences or simply dig under them! So this is definitely a breed thats not recommended for first time or non assertive owners, if youre not the alpha of your pack you can be sure your husky will not listen to you! Huskys are also friendly to a fault, they are lousy guard dogs in fact its been said that if a burglar breaks into your property the husky would probably just help the intruder instead of chase them off!! But if youre after a very loyal, social and energetic dog the husky could be right for you!!

The cache: you are looking for a small sistema container hidden in a usual way. There is enough room for TBs and small swaps,  please remember to make sure the container is well hidden again when you put it back and also be aware this area can get VERY busy so make sure you are not seen by any muggles or that the container cannot be seen before you go! Please keep a good eye on the geokids because there are a lot of bikes coming and going most days, there is also no fencing around the duck pond so kids should be monitored at all times! There is a fun little prize for FTF! Enjoy and happy hunting!! 🤠
