Geocache Description:

A good stop during a fun drive on Angeles Crest Highway! This highway is full long rolling curves and is absolutely wonderful for your high performance vehicles. The cache is placed at a turnout, but you still need to do some searching. The terrain is mostly flat, but there is one section that is a bit steep and loose.

Team Protection initially had other plans for the location of its first cache. However, with the large wildfires this year, every public area has been closed. Instead, we chose this spot. People familiar with this area will have no trouble finding the turnout where the cache is located.
Finding the exact spot is a different story.

So, where to go?

Starting at the bottom of the highway in La Canada, drive up Angeles Crest Highway. The turnout is past Red Box Station, AKA the Mt. Wilson turnoff.

Keep going past Mt. Wilson. When you reach a callbox on the right, numbered 2 396, you are very close. Coords for the callbox are N34 15.889 W118 05.343. Stay sharp, and look for a very large turnout on your right with a large boulder sitting at the end. The coords for the boulder are N34 16.016 W118.04.828.

Walk past the boulder into the shrubbery, and you're on the right track.

As always, when hiking in the forest, remember there are critter who live here. Never reach under anything with out first looking or poking with a stick first. Rattlesnakes live in these hills, so be careful!!!

The cache is in a tupperware container. Here is the original list of contents:

-100 Dollar bill address book (log book)
-Geocaching welcome letter
-Team Protection name card
-Two San Marino HS ROP keychains
-Floppy drive cable
-Pen
-AOL CD
-Mini Koosh ball
-Yellow toy Mercedes SLK
-And of course, protective items that you may find useful during spur of the moment activities

This is the first cache by Team Protection. We hope you enjoy finding it! Take a look at the pictures for better directions.
