Geocache Description:

This series is to highlight the many heroes we may not recognize each day.

Rt 38 was designated as The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway of Valor July 2009 by then Governor Patterson

Vietnam veterans are considered "the forgotten veterans'.

At the end of World Wars I and II the homecoming soldiers were greeted with parades and parties. They were truly considered heroes and protectors of freedom.

Soldiers returning from Korea may not have been greeted with as much fanfare, but were welcomed home and thanked for their service.

At the conclusion of their mission in Vietnam most soldiers returned home without celebration. Some were greeted with protest and outright anger. Regardless of whether they were drafted or volunteered, most soldiers served with honor. They deserve our respect and are finally recognized as the heroes they are.
