Geocache Description:

“Thing One”

Insert: 2021 Jan 14

I call this one “Thing One”.  This was a handle given to me in one of my old units.  My twin brother and I served in a number of Reconnaissance units together.  We were known as “Thing One” and “Thing Two” or “Dash One”,” Dash Two”.  My twin brother and I attended many military schools together, served in the same units, served as instructors and cut our teeth in combat together.

Interesting facts:

Family members serving simultaneously in the military is rare, but even more uncommon is two siblings serving together in the same active-duty unit during war-time.  In addition, two identical twin brothers serving in the same active-duty unit within the SOCOM (Special Operations Command) community is even more rare.

Marine Recon has an attrition rate of over 50 percent, the Basic Reconnaissance Course (BRC) here in Camp Pendleton, CA is one of the more difficult Special Operations selection programs in the U.S. military.  There are less than 2000 active-duty Reconnaissance Marines within the United States Marine Corps today.

“Never above you, never below you, always beside you.  Oorah.  Freedom isn’t free.”

This geocache is dedicated to all members of the United States Armed Forces, all Warfighters, past, present and future.

Remarks:

Geocache has good cover and concealment, and is urban masked.

Amplifying remarks:

Leave geocache better than you found it.  Cache in, trash out.  If you take something, leave something of equal or greater value.  Only take trackables if you are willing to log it and keep it moving.

Stay safe, ALWAYS look for snakes, have fun and good luck.

Hint: “Don’t let this one stump you, leave no stump unturned.”
