Geocache Description:

This cache is located near the famous "Spite House" of Alexandria. At only 6 feet wide, it is the skinniest house in America, and the 2nd skinniest house in the world. Why was such a house built? A Mr. John Hollensbury lived in the adjacent house. The story goes that people were loitering in his alley and causing a ruckus. After wagon wheels gouged a hole in the side of his house, he had had enough. Blocking off the alley was the only way to assuage his anger, so he decided to build a house. Since the skinny dwelling was built out of his spite, it recieved the moniker "Spite House". Now it's owned by a guy who uses it as a vacation/guest house, since it's pretty much too small to live in full-time.

Today, it's one of Alexandria's most iconic landmarks, and I was really surprised that no cache was already put next to it!

Be sure to check out the Historic Houses Adventure Lab: this cache is right by one of the stops.
