Geocache Description:

Dig a hole straight down through the Earth from where this cache is hidden and you’ll come out in the picturesque pueblo of Olvera in southern Spain.

Most of the Earth’s land areas have their antipodes located under water. However, much of New Zealand is unusual in lying opposite solid land, namely in Spain and Portugal.

The cache is located exactly antipodaly to the town’s webcam, which shows live views of the Plaza Andalucia, with a 1000 year old Moorish castle in the distance that can be seen in their daytime, as seen above.

An interesting phenomenon about antipodean points is that sunrise in one place coincides with sunset in its counterpart. This can be observed on the Olvera webcam, with the rising sun’s rays striking the high castle and church as the sun sets in Auckland.

While hunting the cache, don’t try a direct route from the road above, that would seriously raise the terrain rating. It’s just a stone’s throw away from the shoreline, so plan your approach accordingly.
