The site of the old Dashatou Railway Station, which had train services to Hong Kong, was upgraded in 2015 and 2016 into an attractive plaza and linear park. The station commenced operation in 1910, was closed during some times of political turmoil and war, and opened again in 1979.
This Wikipedia entry describes the history of the Kowloon-Canton Railway, while this much more sparse entry describes the Guangzhou-Kowloon Memorial Park (廣九鐵路紀念園).
The plaza is a typical multi-functional Guangzhou public space, heavily used at many times of the day and popular with a range of age groups, from children clambering around the train carriages to older people dancing in the park at night, and everything in between.
This part of dashatou is well-known for high-end photography supplies; one of those peculiar agglomeration economies to be found in cities as large as Guangzhou.
The cache is about 1m high, and requires reaching behind.
