Geocache Description:

Read the story below break out your pencil and paper. The cache location can be found using the story and some basic geometry. This is not just a common word problem … this is a veritable test of your navigational and mapping skills.

The Story

Three heavenly beings who live in Fairfax County have a history of disagreeing about everything. Each one holds that he has the best home.

Jarel, a cherubim, lives at the Congregation Beth Emeth Synagogue off of Lawyers Road in Herndon … Michael, an angel, resides at the Kingdom Hall located at Jermantown Road and Orchard Street in Fairfax … and Gabriel, another angel, lives at Lewinsville Church in McLean (all three are actuall places of worship).

One day they decide to get together for a picnic to discuss matters but cannot agree on a suitable location (typical). Gabriel wants to meet at Tyson’s Corner but Jarel says that it’s too far for him to fly ... Jarel’d rather meet at Macaroni Grill at Reston Town Center but Michael says that he’d have to fly much further that the other two ... which would be unfair.

They agree to meet at a location where each has to fly the exact same distance. If you can find this location, you will find the cache.

Below are the coordinates that He used to determine the meeting place.

Jarel's Synagogue
N38° 54.854' W77° 22.674'
Michael's Hall
N38° 51.718' W77° 19.565'
Gabriel's Chapel
N38° 55.767' W77° 11.809'

Notes:

The coordinates provided at the top of this page are the averaged location of all three of the angel residences, not those of the final cache.

DISCLAIMER: While the coordinates above are ACTUAL locations of ACTUAL religious/food serving buildings/businesses, this cache is in no way to be considered an endorsment of any of the mentioned religious institutions or fine eateries ... those referenced were selected purely on how well they fit the story (i.e., the buildings were in the right place). I have no affiliation with any of them. My apologies to the thousands of religions (including my own) which did not get fair billing in this cache story.
