On this cache you will see a few
remnants of the Silver Comet Trail. I recommend parking at
N33 52.169 W84 42.071 to start. You can park across the
street in the horse parking area too.
You should stay on the main path until you
get to the bench close to the first micro-cache. There you will
find an easy way to get to the equestrian trail and you will see
the first of three remnants of the Silver Comet days. There is an
old axel and wheels from an old train behind the bench. Pretty cool
sight. Going down to the equestrian trail you will see another
remnant of an engine to the left. It gets covered with weeds in the
summertime. Interesting piece of history there, and J.C. growled
and barked at it the first time he saw it! You can then move to the
first stop which is on down the path. A third remnant of the old
bridge is in this area. The first micro container is now one of the
small bison tubes but is not hidden aggresively. Inside you will
find the coordinates for the final cache. A picture of one is
below.

The final cache can be reached with very
little bushwhacking if you go the right way. All around the area
there seem to be remnants of the local rabbits on the ground... and
I mean a lot of them. There are a couple of railroad ties that seem
to be a rabbit hangout. I have seen some deer remnants here and
there in this area too. The cache is an ammo box. Please hide it
back just like you found it. If you bushwhack the hard way you may
get into some trash and nails.
J.C. loves this hike! You are allowed to
have dogs in this area, but you are required to have them leashed
at all times. If you walk your dog on the trail be aware of
bicycles that come through. Look behind you every now and then to
make sure they don't sneak up on you. Sometimes we just walk the
equestrian trail. Good luck and have fun!
