What does it take to be a spy?
New CIA officers in training on “the Farm” at Camp Perry will take various psychological exams to see if they have what it takes for a career in espionage. Among the tests is the Myers-Briggs. According to former operative for the CIA, Lindsay Morgan, the most frequently recruited type for clandestine service in an ENTJ: extroverted, iNtuitive, thinking, judging. Really good investigative journalists fit this type also - the for the same reasons. Officers and their agents need to find people and get information from them in a friendly way if possible. Understanding personality types can make this easier.
Sometimes, an agent can make their informant comfortable enough to give up lots of secrets. One way to put someone at ease is to play a friendly game with them. Who knows if any state secrets were ever shared over a friendly game of Scrabble.
