This cache is hidden along the Indio Hills Badlands (IHB) trail. We were surprised in 2021 that there were not many caches on this 5.2 mile loop. So, at that time we decided to add three. On the fifth anniversary of placing these gecaches, we were back on the trail again and hid four more.
The loop goes through the East Indio Hills Badlands and crosses the San Andreas fault exposing twisted and tortured rocks that have been uplifted and moved over millions of years. The trail enters several narrow slot canyons before climbing to a ridge with panoramic views of the Coachella Valley.
This is hilly desert terrain so bring water, suitable footwear and hiking poles. Beware of snakes and other desert critters.
