The Friends of Aranda Bushland is a community group dedicated to protecting and conserving the bushland to the south of the suburb of Aranda. It has a particular interest in conserving the remnant stands of snow gums located in the bushland. Every month, volunteers gather to work on the bushland - weeding, pruning, planting and path maintenance. More information about the group can be found at this website: www.friendsofarandabushland.org.au
This CITO will be focussed on helping the Friends eradicate some weeds that need to be cut before they seed in autumn. Attendees are asked to meet at the posted coordinates at 0900, when brief instructions will be provided. Attendees are asked to wear study shoes, stout gloves and sun protection, and bring along secateurs or some other garden cutting tools. Some secateurs can be provided.
The plan for the morning is:
- 0900-0910 - meet and sign in with Friends of Aranda Bushland
- 0910-1000 - training and working in the bushland;
- 1000-1030 - morning tea under the snow gums (contributions welcome);
- 1030 - end of CITO, however, attendees are welcome to stay and either work some more, or enjoy one of the many walks.
Attending this event may also allow attendees to log the new locationless cache GC8NEAT if so desired, provided its logging conditions have been met.
Please log your "will attends" so I can let the organisers know how many to expect.
