BLACK BEARS
The wildlife population in New Mexico is as diverse as its land. In addition to elk, deer and antelope, there are also white tailed rabbits, grey squirrels, gray foxes and wolves, coyotes, mountain lions and bobcats. The New Mexico state animal is the black bear, which was adopted in 1963
This is a series of nine geocaches dedicated to New Mexico wildlife. They have been placed in the Cibola National Forest off Hwy 107 and road 234. Stay on 234 at the intersection. Choose your day wisely. Do not attempt after a heavy rain or snow storm. Roads are wash-boarded and rutted in spots. You will want a high clearance vehicle. You might be able to make it to the road the caches are on in a passenger car but would need to walk the rest of the way.
