This beach is just down the road from Waiuku.
Thought we needed a few caches along the beach to bring others here, hope you enjoy this small adventure.
When we drove on the beach, we had applied for a permit from Council to drive a 4x4 vehicle on the sand.
So grab a picnic, and make your way to the cache either by:
- 4x4 vehicle
- Motorbike
- Quad
- Horse
- or walk 1.4 km,
I know what I would choose.
To drive on Karioitahi beach, you must hold a beach driving permit, which you need to renew each year.
The permit is free, and can be applied for online from the Auckland Council website.
Under the law, beaches are legal roads, so all road rules apply.
The speed limit from 1000m north of Karioitahi Road to 1000m south of Karioitahi Road is 20km/h. Beyond these areas it is 80km/h.
