Bear Creek Lake Park is frequently visited by scouting groups for its centralized location in the metro and for the multiple features that support the activities of the BSA. We love to camp, fish, hike, use the archery range, and geocache here. We wanted to support these activities with a geocache that helps fill a merit badge requirement.
There is also an orienteering course, which according to www.rmoc.org was "installed by BSA and RMOC volunteers in June-July 2011 as Clay Cozart's Eagle Scout project. The course is a beginner-level (White) course, and it's about two miles long." On the day of the cache placement, a troop was actively using the course and learning land navigation.
Container and location are typical for forest hides. Terrain rating and attributes are based on expectations of summer plants and animals.
