Not many people know of the hidden away Peters Reserve, in the middle of Northcote, named after a Northcote mayor in the early 1900's.
The reserve was very run down at the end of the twentieth century, and the council proposed selling it off for apartment development in the early 2000s. A local campaign, including a presentation to council from Stellasboys, saw it saved and ultimately upgraded with landscaping, a playground and benches. It is a nice place to see the view of Melbourne, and, with the increasing density of development around the area without much else in the way of nearby parks, a fortunate save in hindsight.
In 2019 Stellasboys placed a magnetic cache in this park named "Reserved for Peters", but it was a bit too obvious and soon after got muggled. Another magnetic one followed in what looked like a better place but that was immediately also muggled. A frustrated Stellasboys then archived it. Then something weird happened: the muggled cache reappeared at Stellasboy's other nearby cache, "Stairway to High". This suggests the muggler was actually a cacher.
In early 2021 we tried a third time, with a fully camoed cache in an even less prominent place. It got through several months and then took off again in May.
Now on the fourth attempt. This is effectively a nano and please take extra care extracting and replacing the logbook. The trick to get it out is to tap it against something. It should then fall out.
