The original location of the Old Salem Cemetery is now underneath Lake Fork Reservoir. Most of the remains of the people at the original site were removed and reburied in this new location prior to the lake being filled up. There are a number of marked graves at this new location and a common grave for the unknown remains. There is a single headstone for the unkown persons buried here. Following is the inscription on this headstone: HEREIN LIE THE REMAINS OF UNKNOWN PERSONS FORMERLY BURIED IN OLD SALEM CEMETERY.
Almost everytime that I have passed by this cemetery I have noticed that the gates were locked. Therefore, I placed the cache at a location that doesn't require you to enter into the cemetery. The cache is very small that may require tweezers to remove the log, it's also BYOP. Enjoy the cache.
