Welcome to the Capital Area Rinks Series (CARS)! As geocachers, this is our very first series to put out. The idea for a series just came up and we both agreed to start one.
A brief summary of Willie "O" Ree Place:
Opening in March of 2007, WORP was welcomed with open arms by Fredericton's residents, as it was the first new arena facility since 1967. It was also Fredericton's first arena facility with two ice surfaces, replacing the former Nashwaaksis Arena and Coliseum. The Nashwaaksis Arena has since been demolished, however the Coliseum still stands on the NB Exhibition grounds and serves as an entertainment venue during the Exhibition and many other events held on the Exhibition grounds. The facility was named and dedicated in 2008 for Willie "O" Ree, a Frederiction native who became the first person of colour to play in the NHL in January 1958.
About the cache:
The cache is located near the Northeast corner of the parking lot. It is a small camouflage container.
