Are you looking for a cache—a hidden kind of trove
—as of treasures, knowledge, and gold?
Well here’s a little gem, if the truth is to be told:
The greatest treasure of them all,
cliché though it may be,
is what you possess within.
The surface is superficial, largely out of our control;
the cover of the book neither is its heart or soul.
It’s the content of your character,
not the color of your skin.
There’s a rainbow full of light,
and no matter who you love,
we’d love to let you in.
Questions are the passageways
to what you don’t yet know,
untold places you can grow,
take you places hard to go.
Do you stand up for what’s right?
In the name of justice do you fight?
Or do you look the other way?
Until we walk in others’ shoes
we mostly see the things we choose,
but people contain multitudes
and if we’re brave enough to try,
we can change the world, by and by.
So borrow a book! Learn something new.
Though there’s one text that you mustn’t take—
it's not what it seems, make no mistake.
Through centuries past, there were myths we outgrew;
there are codes we can crack, and here is a clue.
Consider this question, it’s not hypothetical:
All human beings are what percent (xx.x) genetically identical?
