Geocache Description:

This cache is in a beautiful setting in one of Virginia Beach's lesser known parks. The path to the cache and its hiding place is wide and clear. This cache was placed to bring attention to the Memorial at the end of the path. It is our wishes to maintain this cache as a “Patriotic” cache. Trade even, trade up, but please trade Patriotic. Cache is a round screw-top plastic container.

Memorial dedicated to the memory of the crew of Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron EIGHTEEN (HM-18) crew of NW-601. The memorial is located at the foot of a gazebo which is located a few hundred yards from the site of where NW-601 crashed into the Lynnhaven River after the catastrophic failure of the helicopters main rotor system. The memorial, purchased by family and friends of the crew of NW-601 couldn't have picked a more perfect location. Whenever you visit Virginia Beach, VA spend a few moments of your precious time visiting the memorial. Remember the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces, at home or abroad, they give their lives everday so that you might enjoy all the freedoms that you have. WARNING! PLEASE watch for snakes in the area!!
