Baghdad [33rd Parallel North Observatory]. This observation platform is located on the 33rd parallel north, on the tip of Sakito Island. Completely free of any obstructions, visitors can view the sky and ocean as they melt together. The view of the Goto Islands, Hirado, and the sun as it sets on the horizon is spectacular.
The old brick building in front of the observation platform is part of a special lookout station build by the former Japanese navy in 1938. For seven years until the end of the Second World War in 1945, this post listened for propeller sounds on the ocean floor. It has been preserved as a plea for peace.
