The MattTom's Wood End Wander takes you through farmland, open fields, woodland and country lanes. The footpaths are mainly very good, but might get a bit muddy and wet in winter. You will need tweezers and a pen as some of the caches are nano's. On our walks here, we have seen red kites, buzzard, kestrels, rabbits, fox, a herd of over 100 deer, muntjac, cows, sheep, donkeys, horses, geese, and many smaller birds and butterflies.
This Wander is made up of 49 caches + A Fine Pair in Haultwick. There is a mix of easy and tricky finds and range of containers. #12 is big enough for TB's. Stealth will be required and athleticism for some! Please replace caches as found. If you're familiar with our other MattTom's series' you will know that our caches are mostly hidden to find but do present experienced cachers with one or two fiendishly challenging hides.
The MattTom's Wood End Wander can be broken up into 3 smaller walks. #1-18 is approx 4.5 miles, #18-33 is approx 5 miles and #33-49 is approx 4.2 miles. If completed as one the total MattTom's Wood End Wander is approx. 12.5miles and if you complete the Jigidi in advance you can collect our "Fine Pair" cache in Haltwick along the way.
Parking is recommended next to #1 but can also be found near #10, #14, #32 and #39. From MattTom's Wood End Wander #1 you can do the three walks individually or attempt all in one!
We hope you enjoy our MattTom's Wood End Wander and if you have not already done so, check out our other local series, MattToms Loop, MattTom's Toy Trail and MattTom's Nasty Loop.
