Welcome to SkyTrek DTCS (Dinosaur Track Cache Stash). This cache is located on the outskirts of Dinosaur State Park.( www.dinosaurstatepark.org )
This a great little park for all ages, most trails are circular and less than a ½ mile, there is no admission or parking fee but there is a charge for going into the Exhibit Center building. During the summer they have lots of activities for kids and the nature trails are well done with boardwalks and informational signs. The only issue is parking, if you go after 4:00pm or before 9:00am the park is officially closed, and the gates are locked.
The park holds one of the largest dinosaur track sites in North America. Beneath the geodesic dome, you will find an exceptional display of early Jurassic fossil tracks that were made 200 million years ago. Surrounding the Exhibit Center are more than two miles of nature trails and the Dinosaur State Park Arboretum, containing more than 250 species and cultivars of conifers, as well as katsuras, ginkgoes, magnolias and other living representatives of plant families which appeared in the Age of Dinosaurs.
Although the terrain is not difficult at all, the cache is well hidden and is not going to be found in a conventional location. Trails will bring you to within 100' of the cache. The coordinates are accurate, the container is a normal size Tupperwear type box. For anyone interested, there are two letterbox sites in this park also. Good luck.
