Geocache Description:

A geocache located where I once pitched my tent, some twenty years ago. Family-friendly and easy access from a park, not from private property.

This geocache is in my old stomping grounds. I grew up near here and, although I didn't venture into these woods very often, I spent a lot of time at this park. This is where I first learned (the hard way) what "stranded on third base" meant. I also launched— lost—my first model rocket here. It's white with red and blue decals, in case you find it. Last seen around 1980. I've also done some cross-country skiing here. But on the night in question, I pitched my pup tent very near spot where this geocache is hidden. I'm not sure how many people get to this spot, so I've hidden it pretty well. I hope.

You'll want to park somewhere near N 39° 48.355' W 89° 41.995'. Look for a small social trail; if you come to an old wire fence, walk around the end of it. The geocache is not on the social trail and is a bit precarious in its position. You are looking for a .30 cal ammo can, with a geocaching.com label green wet wipe box stuffed into a hiding spot. Please rehide it well! The original contents included:

  • Mouse pad
  • Wrist rest
  • Compass
  • Frog pencil toppers
  • Trading cards
  • Seattle radio station sticker
  • Armadillo guy
  • The RAPPIN' MIKE Travel Bug

If you take the Travel Bug, be sure to log it properly and move it to another geocache soon. Have fun!
