We had this monolith specially commissioned for CARW2021 to provide a lasting memorial of what's been a heckuva year. Something for future generations to visit, and meditate upon. How did it get here? And who was responsible for that? And why are we on this planet, sailing at incredible velocity through the vastness of space?
Not satisfied to rely on aliens, or druids, I drafted up the plans and sent them off to a fabrication shop in the fall. And last week, after four months of anticipation, the delivery van rolled up and the driver deposited it on our doorstep. Wait a minute... Van? Driver? Doorstep? I had expected a flatbed...
Whoa. Somehow that ' got smudged into a " and to their credit, the shop built it *exactly* to spec. Exactly.
