Thought was about time a cache was placed end of this beach ,well worth a walk .

Orowaiti river has helped Westport escape major flooding for almost 100 years with the help with the help of a man made channel into the Orowaiti river from the mighty Buller river that has the highest flow of any river in New Zealand up to 12,700  cubic meters of water flowing out to sea every second.

With the Buller river getting shallower ,climate change, and lack of dredging of Orowaiti I wonder if Westport will be around in another 100 years.
