Dongyuan Dajie Community was a already an attractive pedestrian & bike path 15 years ago, and has further improved since then. The alleyways accessing the area are, like many of the older communities in Liwan and Yuexiu Districts, publicly accessible to pedestrians & bicycles but off-limits to car traffic. Displays have been placed along the alleyways in this area featuring historical and cultural figures in a tree-lined and tranquil setting.
As in other areas along this 'urban development' cache trail, the people using the interior alleyways like this one are overwhelmingly local residents. Non-locals don't know about the access points and alleyway linkages, and tend to use the larger traffic roads.
