Although a high income residential area including many senior officials and relatives, this part of the larger Dongshan District has always been accessible to the public, with gateways to control only the entry of cars. It includes several historical buildings, including a 'Former Residence of Qin Mu', a well-known literary and scholarly figure from the 1900s which is opposite the cache. The Qiming Yi Lu Community (启明一马路小区) where the cache is located is picturesque and quiet, especially considering the proximity to the commercial hub of Dongshan District only 150m to the east. Though always walkable, some cafes and shops are gradually being installed in the area, which helps enliven the pedestrian experience.
25m east of the cache and up the steps is the entry point to the Guigang area which takes in some of the most popular, vibrant and commercial intensive areas of Dongshan District, and from which the cache takes its name.
