Deze route van ongeveer 7 kilometer neemt je mee langs enkele historische en mooie plekjes in Maastricht. Via 16 waypoints komen zowel toeristische trekpleisters als enkele rustige pittoreske plaatsen aan bod. Onderweg is er genoeg gelegenheid voor rustmomenten of om van de lokale horeca te genieten; Maastricht staat tenslotte bekend om haar bourgondische levensstijl! Let wel op, want de route is geen rondweg; het laatste WP ligt enkele kilometers verwijderd vanaf het eerste WP.

Maastricht mag zich tot één van de ‘oudste steden van Nederland’ rekenen. Met haar rijke geschiedenis en het moderne internationale karakter is een stadswandeling door meerdere redenen interessant. De voormalige vestingstad is met het Verdrag van Maastricht uit 1992 de geboorteplaats van de Europese Unie. Spits je oren en je zult gemakkelijk een handjevol talen voorbij horen komen. Vergeet onderweg vooral niet omhoog te kijken. De gevels van de gebouwen tonen de geschiedenis van de panden. Vergeet echter ook niet omlaag te kijken. De kinderkopjes staan niet altijd waterpas, maar waar nodig zijn gaten tussen de stenen opgevuld met fietsbellen. Is dat geen creatieve recycling?
De cache
Bezoek alle 16 waypoints en vind op iedere plek één van de foto’s uit de fotocollage. Het cijfer dat je bij de betreffende foto vindt staat voor de waarde van de gekoppelde letter. Bij WP 1 vind je de waarde van A, bij WP 2 de waarde van B, enzovoorts tot en met de letter P. Als je de waarde van letter P ook hebt ontdekt (en niet bent vergeten te genieten van het uitzicht) kun je met de opgegeven formule aan de slag om het cachecoördinaat uit te rekenen. De antwoorden kun je controleren middels de checksommen.

Along the way, there is plenty of opportunity for rest stops or to enjoy the local restaurants; after all, Maastricht is known for its burgundian lifestyle! Please note that the route is not a circular route; the last WP is several kilometers away from the first WP.

Maastricht can count itself as one of the “oldest cities in the Netherlands". With its rich history and modern international character, a city walk is interesting for several reasons. The former fortified city is the birthplace of the European Union with the Maastricht Treaty of 1992. Prick up your ears and you'll easily hear a handful of languages pass by. Don't forget to look up along the way. The facades of the buildings show the history of the buildings. However, don't forget to look down as well. The cobblestones are not always level, but where necessary, gaps between them have been filled with bicycle bells. Isn't that creative recycling?

Visit all 16 waypoints and find one of the photos from the photo collage at each spot. The number you find next to the corresponding photo represents the value of the linked letter. At WP 1 you find the value of A, at WP 2 the value of B, and so on up to the letter P.
