The A2O cycle trail traverses over 300 km from Mount Cook village down the Waitaki Valley to Oamaru on the coast.
Progressively sections of the trail have been moved off the roads and on to a dedicated cycle / walking track.
This new section of trail is between Sailors Cutting and the Benmore Hydo dam, was officially opened in November 2020.
The series of caches are along this section and best reached by bicycle, it is approximately 16km between the two ends of this section. There are some steep sections but the reward is some great views and photo opportunities.
