Otaheiti är en äldre namnform av ön Tahiti, som kommit att leva kvar som en benämning för något avlägset. Och här i Skepptuna socken fick ett soldattorp detta namn. Torpet beboddes av knekt nummer 83 vid Upplands regemente och Hundra härads kompani. Torpet ligger på andra sidan Vasa Alléväg strax nordost om cachen. Det var vanligt att ge torp och gårdar namn efter fjärran platser, antingen från Bibeln eller sådana som blivit kända på andra sätt.
Otaheiti har också förvanskats till Tjottaheiti, vilket kan vara ett namn på ett utedass, som ju ofta låg lite avlägset för att inte lukten skulle störa.
Otaheiti is an old form of the name of the island Tahiti, and is used as a name for something distant. Here in Skepptuna parish a soldier's homestead got this name. The homestead is situated on the other side of the small road near the cache. It was common to give farms and houses in the countryside names of faraway places, either from the Bible or from other famous places.
Otaheiti has also been changed to Tjottaheiti which can be used as a name for an outhouse (outdoor toilet) which often was situated far away to minimize the smell.
