Geocache Description:

NOTE: You will need your own pen to sign the log!

RTD's first light rail line offically opened on Friday, October 7, 1994. I was 14 years old at the time, and I remember feeling like Denver was really becoming a big city!  This cache is along the southeast corridor extension along I-25 that was completed in November 2006 as part of Denver's T-REX project.  The FasTracks program, apporved by metro Denver voters promised a full system of trains connecting Denver and its surrounding communities, and a train to the planes!  I remember when my son was born thinking how amazing it would be to be able to ride a train to the airport, but it was a long way off!  He would be in 4th grade by the time the A line to Denver International Airport was planned to open, but it was finished ahead of schedule, and time sure flies when you have kids.

When I rode that first light rail line in 1994, I never could have imagined the experience of landing at the airport, hoping on a train, and entering Denver, this City I grew up in and love so much, at a totally reimagined Union Station.  Talk about feeling like a big city!  This cache is along the final leg of my route home from the airport, a place I hope to never drive my car to ever again.
