Geocache Description:

Please return as found so others may find it as well.

If water is high may be harder to reach. Note water usually does not get that high and lowers usually quickly.

The cache is located in Beautiful Wewahitchka, FL near the Preacher Glass Boat Ramp. About 30 ft south boat ramp near waterline look up it is bright.

Note at times it can be a high muggle activity.  Lake Alice is used a lot by the locals to fish, boat, jet ski, and swim. Just down the road is Lake Alice Park which has picnic tables, bathrooms, grills, and a playground.

How Wewahitchka, FL got its name: John Keyes moved to the Wewa area and planted pecan, pear, and orange trees. Dr. Keyes referred to the two lakes as “Alice” and “Julia” after his two daughters. Around 1875, residents decided to call the town Wewahitchka, a Seminole word meaning “water eyes,” in honor of the lakes in the center of the settlement.

The Preacher Glass Boat ramp is named for the Chief of Police of Wewahitchka, He served as Chief from 1969-1985.

You can also find his cache Three Men Died Today (GC95MJ9) south of Wewahitchka and learn a little more about this man.
