Arbuckle Park needs our help!

Rescheduled - garlic mustard plant removal & trash removal - (for anyone attending the second time - we will be meeting in shelter #6 this time.)

We’re calling all geocachers to come join us at Arbuckle Acres Park to remove both trash and evasive plant species (specifically pulling garlic mustard plants) during our CITO (Cache In, Trash Out) event on Saturday, April 17, 2021, from 1:00 pm to 4:00pm pm.

This event is co-hosted by the Brownsburg Water Utility Department and the Brownsburg Parks & Recreation Department.  This helps the community meet their public participation stormwater requirements, while keeping this wonderful park in pristine condition!

The posted coordinates are for shelter #6 which is our gathering spot. Parking is available throughout the park in various locations. Please check-in at the shelter for a small meet and greet.  We'll meet at the shelter at 1pm to pick up supplies and receive instructions.

Provided:

• Trash bags
• Disposable gloves
• Hand sanitizer
• Vests – for those working in traffic areas
• Water bottles
• Trash grabbers while supplies last.

Please bring trash grabbers if you have any.  Heavy-duty gloves, boots, sunscreen, & bug spray are always helpful and highly recommended.  Bring a face mask to the event in case they are still being required – I will update as needed. Poison ivy and briars thrive throughout a portion of the area. Most of the area is flat, although there are some inclines and declines alongside the trail.  Be sure to wear appropriate clothing and footwear.  There may be some mud and water beside the trail if it rains prior to the event.

We will clean and/or remove evasive plants from various locations.  Everyone can do as much as they are able to help out.

Please note in your "will attend" how many members will be in your group so we can bring enough supplies.  I will also need for you to go to https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e084aa5a82ea1f85-cache and register through the Parks Department.

Restrooms are available at the park. 

If we have severe weather on the day of the event, we will cancel and reschedule.  We'll be monitoring the weather prior to the event and will make any cancellation announcements via a post on this page.

Event organizers will provide water.  Please note in your "Will Attend" how many members will be in your group so we can get a good head count.
