Pi day
March 14
Pi is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter.
3.14 is how it is often written but it is actually a non-repeating number that is infinite.
Because it is usually written as 3.14 we celebrate on 3 (March) 14.
Sometimes it is carried out to 3.14159 if a greater degree of accuracy is needed.
Because it is often written as 3.14159 we celebrate on 3/14 at 1:59. Note: It really should be at 1:59 AM for the purists but I would rather have a few people join me in the celebration so we will have this event at 1:59 PM. On the geocaching event creation page the start times are preset at 15 minute intervals. So the start time for this event is 1:45 PM but at 1:59 we will have the big hoopla or the hip-hip-hooray, or whatever one calls the special moment of celebration.
So, if you enjoy mathematics, or goofy celebrations, or pie, or even just getting together as geocachers, come join us at Anderson Snow Park, on Sunday, March 14, 2021, at 1:45 PM. We will meet at the usual place so bring a chair. In the case of inclement weather we will probably move to an open air pavilion. Social distancing will be practiced
We will talk about Pi or Pie, or any other suitable topics. Maybe you have some favorites that you will tell us about.
SPECAL NOTE: Daylight Savings Time starts March 14. We may hang around a bit later than usual to allow for those that are time challenged
See you there.
