Wir nehmen euch mit in die Geschichte unserer Gemeinde und zeigen euch geheimnisvolle und sagenumwobene, interessante oder einfach nur wunderschöne Orte der Stadt Rerik und der Umgebung.
Gerade in der Saison sind in der Region sehr viele Urlauber unterwegs. Bitte achtet darauf, dass Euch niemand beobachtet, wenn ihr auf die Suche geht!!!
Einige Caches sind mit dem Auto erreichbar, aber im Sinne des Umwelt- und Naturschutzes empfehlen wir die Stationen zu Fuß oder mit dem Rad zu absolvieren. Bitte nutzt die angegebenen Parkplätze.
Da es keinen Bonus gibt, könnt ihr an jeder beliebigen Dose starten. Große ECA müsst ihr nicht mitschleppen. Kleinere, wie einen Magneten, vielleicht eine Pinzette oder auch ein Stift könnten hilfreich sein. Bitte beachtet, dass nirgendwo etwas abgeschraubt werden muss!

Noch bis ins 19. Jahrhundert war die Dorfstraße (heute Dünenstraße) nicht befestigt.
Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts wurde der kleine Ort Alt Gaarz als Badeort immer beliebter. . Um 1895 wurde die Gaststätte Strandhotel Schulz direkt an der Steilküste errichtet (heute Restaurant Steilküste).
Von der Dünenstraße führte nur ein Landweg zum Bäcker Graf („Villa Krone“) direkt an der Steilküste. Auf beiden Seiten des Weges waren große freie Flächen, die landwirtschaftlich genutzt wurden.
Um die Jahrhundertwende hatte sich der kleine Ort Alt Gaarz rasant entwickelt. 1910 zählte der Ort 477 Einwohner, zur gleichen Zeit kamen schon 1.200 Badegäste.
Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts entwickelte sich der kleine Ort Alt Gaarz weiter, es entstand ein neues Wohngebiet. So entstanden zu dieser Zeit auch die Villen in der Seestraße, parallel zur Steilküste. Im Jahr 1911 wurde die Villa Seeluft von Robert Heiden erbaut. Die Villen hatten noch keine befestigte Straße.
Neben der Villa Seeluft entstanden die Villen Seeblick und Seeadler. Im weiteren Verlauf entstand das Hotel Hohenzollern, das 1947 in das Haus Maria Meeresstern umbenannt eine Zweigstelle des katholischen St. Elisabeth-Kinderhauses in Wismar wurde. Das Haus beheimatet heute auch noch die katholische Kirche.

Some caches can be reached by car, but in the interests of environmental and nature conservation we recommend that you complete the stations on foot or by bike. Please use the specified parking spaces.

Until the 19th century, the village road (today Dünenstraße) was not paved.
At the end of the 19th century, the small village of Alt Gaarz became increasingly popular as a seaside resort. Around 1895, the restaurant Strandhotel Schulz was built directly on the cliffs (today restaurant Steilküste).
From the Dünenstraße, only a sandy path led to Grafs bakery Graf ("Villa Krone") directly on the steep coast. On both sides of the trail were large open spaces that were used for agriculture.
By the turn of the century, the small town of Alt Gaarz had developed rapidly. In 1910, the village had 477 inhabitants, at the same time 1,200 bathers came.
