幕末の動乱期が過ぎ、新時代の天皇として即位した明治天皇。
積極的に全国を巡幸（めぐること）しておられたという明治天皇が明治18年(1885)、訪れた宮島・厳島神社から対岸である現在の廿日市市地御前に上陸した場所がこの公園です。
現在は、見晴らしが良く、瀬戸内海と宮島を眺めながらゆったりとした時を過ごせる公園として、地元の人に愛されています。
After the turbulent period at the end of the Edo period, Emperor Meiji reigned as the emperor of a new era.
This park is the place where the Emperor Meiji, who was actively touring the whole country, landed in front of the current Hatsukaichi city, which is on the opposite bank from Miyajima / Itsukushima Shrine, which he visited in 1885.
Today, it is loved by locals as a park with a good view and a relaxing time while gazing at the Seto Inland Sea and Miyajima.
