PL: Po Pomrowie (GC94106) i Zaleszczotku (GC9878G) doszły mnie słuchy, że robię same kesze o obrzydlistwach. W ramach ekspiacji chciałam zrobić kesz z ciekawostkami o słodkim, milusim zwierzaczku, ale coś czuję, że nie o tego chodziło...
Czy wiecie, że...?
- Koale przesypiają 18+ godzin na dobę. Eukaliptus, którym się żywią, dostarcza tak mało kalorii, że na więcej aktywności po prostu nie mają energii.
- Młode koali rodzą się, ważąc zaledwie 1g. Pierwsze 6 miesięcy spędzają w torbie matki. Koale są jedynymi torbaczami, które nigdy nie czyszczą swoich toreb. Może nie mają energii?
- ...a może są na to za głupie? Mózg koali to zaledwie 0,2% ich masy, to najniższy wskaźnik wśród torbaczy.
- Ich nazwa znaczy w języku Aborygenów "nie pije".
- U koali wylot torby jest dość wyjątkowo skierowany do tyłu. Ma to związek z tym, że aby moc trawić trujące liście eukaliptusa, koale potrzebują specyficznej flory bakteryjnej w żołądku. Młode pozyskują ją od matki - z tego mniej apetycznego końca przewodu pokarmowego...

Did you know that...?
- Koalas sleep over 18 hours a day. Eucalyptus leaves, the only thing they eat, is so low in nutrition that they literally have no power for more activity.
- Baby koalas only weight about 1g when born. They spend first six months in their mother's pouch. Contrary to other marsupials, koalas never clean their pouches. Maybe they have not enough energy?
- ...or maybe they're too stupid for that? Koala brains only account for about 0.2 percent of their body weight, one of the smallest ratios of any marsupial.
- Their name means "no water" in Aboriginal language. That's because they almost never drink.
- Koala's pouch is facing backwards, to give the joey easy access to mother's cloaca. They need special bacteria in their guts to be able to digest eucalyptus leaves. Yes, they get it from their mother's digestive tract... but from the wrong end of it...
