Mina de Água | Pé da Serra | Amêndoa
Esta galeria de água faz parte de uma propriedade designada Mina / Fonte, que se organiza em diversos socalcos (“chãos”, como localmente são designados) tendo sido construído para garantir o regadio dessas terras e o abastecimento de água aos donos da propriedade.
Situa-se numa unidade geológica do período Câmbrico que se discrimina pelo predomínio de bancadas de metagrauvaques e está provavelmente associada a uma falha geológica, de direcção WE, visível na zona do Pico de Água e nas localidades do Pé da Serra e Martinzes.
Pressupõe-se que foi mandado construir pela família que era desta propriedade no início do Sec. XX ou seus ascendentes que residiam junto à Fonte Velha do Pé da Serra. A construção desta mina remontará assim coletados / finais do séc. XIX, mas a sua origem pode ser anterior e executado executado por mineiros profissionais que recorrendo às técnicas existentes à altura, nomeadamente com recurso a grandes brocas, explosivos e técnicas manuais de escavação, fez a abertura da galeria até ao nascente.
Na década de 30 do seg. XX, esta família formada a aldeia do Pé da Serra com destino a Vila Nova da Baronia tendo vendido toda a propriedade e com ela também a mina, aos irmãos José e João Martins, que uma fonte associada, perfazendo atualmente um comprimento de cerca de 50 m durante o qual mantém uma mesma secção.
Antes da migração dos descendentes dos irmãos José e João Martins para zonas urbanas e conseqüente declínio da atividade agrícola que se registrava na propriedade, a mina era limpa regulamente pelos mesmos, o que garantia a qualidade da água, que nessa altura também era usado para consumo humano e alimentação de animais. Esta operação de limpeza e manutenção, consistia no despejo completo da água acumulada e remoção de lamas, algas e fungos existentes, o que manualmente tirando estes materiais com pás e carros de mão que galgavam, através de tábuas, a frente da mina. A parte frontal da mina foi criada na década de 60/70 do seculo passado para permitir maior acumulação de água.
Nos tempos da II Grande Guerra Mundial e imediatamente posteriores dizia-se que a mina vazia poderia servir de refúgio e abrigo e, nomeadamente os mais novos das duas famílias diziam: “Se vier a guerra, vamos esconder-nos na mina”.
Actualmente a água que produz é apenas utilizável para regadio e apoio doméstico pelas famílias que detém a sua propriedade e das terras envolventes.

This water gallery is part of a property called Mina/Fonte, which is organized in several terraces ("chãos", as they are locally called) and was built to guarantee the irrigation of these lands and the water supply to the property owners.
It is located in a geological unit of the Cambrian period that is characterized by the predominance of metagrauvaques benches and is probably associated with a geological fault, W-E direction, visible in the area of Pico de Água and in the villages of Pé da Serra and Martinzes.
It is assumed that it was built by the family that owned this property in the beginning of the XX century or their ancestors who lived near Fonte Velha do Pé da Serra. The construction of this mine probably dates back to the middle/late 19th century, but its origin may be earlier and it may have been built by professional miners who, using the techniques available at the time, namely using large drills, explosives and manual excavation techniques, opened the gallery up to the spring.
In the 1930's, this family left the village of Pé da Serra for Vila Nova da Baronia, having sold the entire property and with it also the mine, to the brothers José and João Martins, who would have added to it, making it currently about 50 m long, during which it maintains the same section.
Before the migration of the descendants of the brothers José and João Martins to urban areas and the consequent decline of agricultural activity that was registered on the property, the mine was cleaned regularly by them, which guaranteed the quality of water, which at that time was also used for human consumption and animal feed. This cleaning and maintenance operation, consisted in the complete dumping of the accumulated water and removal of mud, algae and fungi, which was done manually removing these materials with shovels and wheelbarrows that climbed, through planks, the front of the mine. The front of the mine was added in the 60's and 70's of last century to allow for greater water accumulation.
In the times of World War II and immediately after, it was said that the empty mine could serve as a refuge and shelter, and particularly the younger members of the two families said: "If the war comes, we will hide in the mine".
Today the water it produces is only used for irrigation and domestic support by the families that own it and the surrounding land.
