Geocache Description:

 Sheps' Round-a-bout

This is the successor cache to one of the same name, Shep Park, placed by Blenheim Bear in Nov 2012.
The original was a very ingenious hide, inside the windmill which you can see near the log play area today.
To access the hide, you would have to unscrew part of the windmill itself, something only intuitive to the creative cachers who found it. It was very popular, with 39 favourite points, out of 171 finds.

Unfortunately, the curiosity of many muggles got the better of this cache, on many occasions. With Blenheim Bear living away, Kiwimykl volunteered to perform maintenance and replace the cache after numerous a muggling.
It became so bad, that it was suspected that one individual muggle took fond duty upon themselves to wreak havoc on the cache everytime it was replaced.

The efforts to keep this cache alive were abandoned in 2017, with the last find in November 2016, after precisely four years in service.

Another very popular cache by Blenheim Bear, Round-a-bout, located adjacent the peculiar roundabout in the centre of Blenheim which contains a State Highway, a Main Trunk Railway, and three urban roads.
Due to it's high profile location which is always busy, and frequented by bored muggling teens, sadly succumbed to the same fate as Shep Park, and has been archived since 2019.
The final note by Kiwimykl summed it up bluntly: "It is gone."

So I thought I'd pay tribute to Blenheim Bear and his popular caches, both of which were a favourite of mine, but with the roundabout now occupied by a replacement cache, and the Sheps' Park windmill haunted by the graverobbing muggle, I thought I'd combine the two ideas.

I'm proud to present to you the Round-a-bout cache at Sheps' Park.
If you were lucky enough to log the original Round-a-bout cache in town, you'll know exactly what to look for.
Otherwise, have a go, or read the hint. GPS was very patchy here.
Cache is within park boundaries, so resist the urge to stray onto neighbouring yards.
The area is usually quiet, but please be very aware of muggles, as the cache is hidden in plain sight.
Please help with weather-tightness when replacing the cache and handle me gently.

Enjoy the pleasant atmostphere at Sheps' Park, leave a favourite if you enjoy the cache.
Special thanks to Kiwimykl for some caching supplies to give me a boost.
