While you are here, enjoy the Danville Public Library! The Ruby B. Archie Public Library was named for a woman who dedicated her life to the education and betterment of our city. Ruby Archie was an English teacher at 2 different high schools in our city for 37 years. She was also the first female African-American mayor of our city, serving in the position from 1998 to 2000. She was an active member of city council for over 16 years until her death in 2010.
