Named for the flint that has eroded from the bedrock that lies near the surface, this beautiful area of Kansas is home to the Flint Hills Geocachers. Be prepared for amazing views of rolling hills, bluestem prairie and some pretty cool geocaches. The are covers about 200 miles from north to south in the eastern part of Kansas and is about 80 miles wide at the widest point.
This sign announces you are about to enter the Flint Hills area. The geocache is just a simple traditional. You may need some slight help to reach it, if you are vertically challenged. The cache and sign are along a state highway. It is not a busy highway, but a few vehicles may pass while you are stopped. There is ample room to pull off to the side near the sign, but you may want to be careful if it has recently rained. There is also a small pullout about 200 feet east of the cache.
Sign the log, enjoy the view and WELCOME TO THE FLINT HILLS!
