HEADING TO 1000 HIDES (#997)
As I approach 1000 cache hides, I wanted to create a series of caches that is reflective of the kinds of caches I’ve hidden since our very first cache, "ROCK ON!!!" (GC3RRFV), placed on August 3rd, 2012.
Cache #997 is a bit of a suprise. It was actually placed on January 14th, 2021. But there were a number of factors that kept this one from being published until now. I guess you can say, this hide is reflective of the Paddling Turtle Geo-Art Series. Although it is not a paddle cache, it does going into the actually Turtle Geo-Art in the middle of Burlington Bay. Placed in January, published in August. Many of my early puzzles were quite easy, that's why I kept this one simple.

(Hide #997)-> Know Your Ontario Turtles
This turtle looks like it came right out of the age of the dinosaurs. It has a long tail with a number of spikes on top, some people compare it to the stegosaurus.
The upper shell ranges from tan, olive to black in colour, with a jagged front, and 3 ridges running the length of the shell. The larger this turtle gets, the more algae is covering it. The plastron (lower shell) is very small, and provides limited protection from below, which may be part of the reason for this turtle's aggression. The length of its top shell has been measured up to 47 centimetres. It is the largest freshwater turtle in Canada.
