Welcome to Kalkadoon Country
Mount Isa is situated on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people who followed patterns of hunting and gathering, fishing and trade for many thousands of years before the arrival of the first Europeans in this area.
Kalkadoon craftsmen were famous for the quality of their stone implements, and hand-crafted tools were traded by the Kalkadoon people with other Aboriginal groups across western Queensland, as far south as Birdsville.
This small sistema cache is hidden near the signage showing this is Kalkadoon Country, on the side of the Barkly Highway as you enter Mount Isa from the northern approach. Please ensure the cache is well hidden when it is replaced.
At the time of hiding, it contained a logbook and a few kiddies swaps. Please bring your own pen.
