The Emmanual S. Leopold Recreational Park is a 15 acre site located along Kittanning Point Road in the Eldorado section of Logan Township. This parcel of ground was donated to the Township by the family of Emmanual S. Leopold for the purpose of creating a public park in this area.
At the present time, this park offers a full range of activities to the Township residents including a baseball/softball field, multi-use football/soccer field, two picnic pavilions, basketball court and a playground area.
The Park can be accessed from Kittanning Point Road by a paved driveway or from Valley Avenue by the pedestrian bridge that crosses over Burgoon Run. There is a paved walk path connecting all areas of the Park with benches located along this path. Public restrooms and a paved, lighted parking area are provided near the baseball/softball field.
At the one picnic pavilion, you can sit and watch the trains that are going or coming from the World Famous Horseshoe Curve (HSC). You will be watching trains passing the MP/PT 239.1 on the Norfolk Southern Pittsburgh Line. There is about 50 freight trains a day, and 2 passenger trains.
The cache container is a "Small Lock n Lock". There is room for some small Travel Bugs (TB).
It will be greatly appreciated, if you take a TB, please leave one!
You must sign the log to recieve credit for the find, and please replace the container back where you first located it!
Please make sure that the container is back into the zip-lock bag and bag is sealed!
Note: The GPS coordinates are an average of 5 different readings taken on 5 sunny days. A Garmin Oregon 700, was used with the Satellite System setting set to: GPS + GLONASS, with WAAS/EGNOS on.
