Der Nationalpark Hohe Tauern ist der größte Nationalpark Österreichs und der Alpen sowie eines der größten Schutzgebiete im mitteleuropäischen Raum. Er umfasst weite Teile des zentralalpinen Hauptkammes der Ostalpen Österreichs im Bereich der Hohen Tauern zwischen den Quellen der Isel, Möll, Mur und Salzach und erstreckt sich über 100 km von Ost nach West sowie über 40 km von Nord nach Süd. Er hat bei einer Fläche von über 1800 km² Anteil an den österreichischen Bundesländern Salzburg, Tirol und Kärnten.
Der Nationalpark Hohe Tauern besteht seit 1981 und war der erste Nationalpark in Österreich.

The Hohe Tauern National Park is the largest national park in Austria and the Alps and one of the largest protected areas in Central Europe. It covers large parts of the main central Alpine ridge of the Eastern Alps of Austria in the area of the Hohe Tauern between the sources of the Isel, Möll, Mur and Salzach and extends over 100 km from east to west and over 40 km from north to south. With an area of over 1800 km², it shares the Austrian provinces of Salzburg, Tyrol and Carinthia.
The Hohe Tauern National Park has existed since 1981 and was the first national park in Austria.
