WELCOME TO TAYLOR'S CREEK PARK!
That's what it says on the map anyway. Years ago, I moved a couple blocks away from this unimproved park. I saw it on Google Maps and got excited a good sized park was so close. I was very surprised when I walked to it and saw it was nothing but trees with a creek running through it.
In the intervening years, I came to appreciate the "park" for what it was. I must have walked by it hundreds of times taking my son on walks when he was an infant and toddler (he was pretty fussy, but was ALWAYS calm on walks, so I never walked more in my life). When my son was 3, I rediscovered Geocaching after nearly a decade of inactivity. I believe the first cache we tried to find was in this park (GLY4VYVK), but we DNFed and it has since archived. The disappointment was thankfully short lived, however, since my son got his first find on a nearby trail later that same day (pictured in the background image on this page).
I decided it was time this spot deserved another cache. There is even a hidden trail now. This trail is RIGHT next to the parking coordinates I've included, and it takes you to within 2 steps of the cache, so it shouldn't be too hard to grab if the coordinates aren't too bouncy. You'll notice little metal fences around some of the trees...those are important for this find 😁
As far as I can tell, there shouldn't be anything poisonous or thorny to endure to get to the find, other than maybe a thorny branch or two accessing the trail. For some reason, the Geocaching trails map and Google Maps both have the cache as being North of Ash Creek, but I can promise you the cache is South of the creek's current course.
I hope you enjoy this hidden little gem. My son, who is now 5, has personally chosen the SWAG item that is waiting inside. Please replace the container as found so it doesn't fall down in to the water, and try to keep it somewhat camouflaged. And who knows, maybe you'll see a friendly R.O.U.S. swimming along haha!
