Geocache Description:

Congratulations to Koselig and Christopher for FTF!!

The Lonely North is placed to take you on a journey to the quiet heart of Caithness. This is the 'Flow Country', a place singularly beautiful that expresses itself in the most subtle ways.

I'd be surprised if you met anybody at GZ but hopefully you will have enjoyed the peacefulness of this place. There can be a silence here as the sounds of modern life are distant, the flat peatland is an acoustic sponge and only the call of the birds will carry.

However, it can sing too: when rain comes the land is alive with running water. Drains, ditches and their tiny waterfalls gurgling the music of the Flows - as bleak and beautiful as the plovers call.

Please do not drive down the track that leads from the east, it is a private track that gets progressively rougher. There is room at the end of the public road near Shurrery for a few cars to park at ND04312 57806. (If you drive as far as the dam at the loch then you have driven too far.)

Please plan your visit carefully. The weather can change quickly and whilst the featureless nature of the landscape thins the distinctions between water, earth and air it can make navigating difficult, very difficult in poor visibility. Mobile phone signal is also patchy so have your GPS!

The cache is a medium sized cylindrical plastic container. A pencil is inside and there is room for swaps.
