You can access this cache off the main drive from 2 different trails. The Duane Ferris Trail was named to honor the man who was the pars system's expert on blue birds. And the Eldon Russell Nature Trail was named to honor a former park commissioner.
This park attracts birders, canoers, and kayakers who use the boat launch near the abutment that bridged the Cuyahoga River for the Interurban Railway.
An interesting bit of history occurred here in 1901 when the property was owned by an onion farmer named Pace Latham. who played a major roll in the infamous Onion Wars which centered around changing the course of the river.
