名古屋二十一大師霊場の第15番札所の地蔵院です。
伝説によると1205年に北井戸田村の海中から地蔵が引き揚げられました。どこからともなくお爺さんがやってきてそれをお湯で洗い、人々に「この像に祈願する際には湯をかけて報恩するように」と言って姿を消しました。その後この地蔵に湯をかけて祈願するようになったことから湯浴地蔵と呼ばれるようになりました。
1292年に戸部村に移されたのち、火災のため1600年にここ山崎村に移されたと伝わっています。
この地蔵は鎌倉時代から室町時代に作られた鋳鉄製でしたが、戦災や伊勢湾台風での被災により胴体が欠損し、現在はコンクリートによる修復を受けています。
This is Jizo-in Temple, the 15th temple of the Nagoya 21 Temples Pilgrimage.
According to legend, in 1205, a Jizo statue was pulled out of the sea in Kitaidota Village. An old man came out of nowhere, washed it with warm water, told people to pour warm water over it when praying to the statue, and disappeared. The statue was moved to Tobe Village in 1292, and then moved here in 1600 due to a fire.
This Jizo was made of cast iron in the Kamakura or Muromachi periods, but its body was damaged in the war and Ise Bay typhoon, and now it has been restored with concrete.
